Travis finally committed to crawling underneath the house and insulating our pipes. Back when we got the new water heater installed, I mentioned how we got forced to replace all the remaining galvanized pipes with copper pipes under the house. Of course the contractors didn't both to insulate my new pipes. So our hot water runs through some very heat-conductive copper pipes in the cave that is our crawl space. It's, well, not ideal.

Since Travis was going to crawl underneath the house, I nagged convinced him to go ahead and insulate the cold water pipes as well since he was down there. While it is unlikely that in the year-round perfect weather that is the Bay Area our cold water pipes would somehow freeze and burst, I figured it wouldn't hurt. Travis of course took some convincing. I won.

So it was off to Home Depot to pick up ~200 feet of foam pipe insulation. Which when loaded into the car looked like many overgrown angry octopuses (octopi? octopodes?) clawing to get out of the back window.
