Baby Steps

Had some more positive news on the house we're buying. The seller was granted full authority so he can legally sell us the house without having to get a court confirmation. Woot! We're still waiting to hear about the appraisal report so fingers are still crossed. Our realtor is optimistic though. She thinks we're the only clients she currently has where she's not concerned about the appraisal price coming in on target so let's hope she's right.

We're planning to spend this weekend working on prepping for the remodels. On the docket are shower pan, shower door, tile, gutter, closet shelving and a diversion to pick out some paint color for mom's dining room. Dad brought back white curtains to go against a white wall so they're gonna need some paint.

And I hauled back 40 boxes today. I have no clue where to put them in the apartment for ~2 months but they were free and in good condition so I'm not turning them down.

House Inspections a Go

We got some excellent news on the house today. That little red one. We had the property, termite and roof inspections done on it. Bottom line, there's nothing wrong with the house that we didn't already know about so we're definitely moving to the next step of buying this house.

I have to give my props to the previous owner. He did an amazing job maintaining the place. The furnace may be 50 years old but it's clean and in good working condition. The chimney is clean. The house has barely settled. There's a healthy crawl space with easy access to the bottom of the house. The only weird thing we found was that the house has 4 breaker boxes. Well, the previous owner was an electrician so I suppose he felt comfortable pulling a new breaker box everytime he wanted a new outlet. :-)

We even found out some bonus stuff. The air ducts have been replaced with galvanized instead of tin and are well insulated. He put in extra insulation in the attic. Almost all the casement windows still work. The plumbing was replaced with either copper or at least new galvanized to replace old galvanized. I was 100% ready to pull brand new plumbing each time we remodeled a bathroom or kitchen and now I'm not even worried about that.

Wells Fargo: You are Retarded

First up, I found out this week that you've gone out and sued yourself. Brilliant!

And now I find out you have the most brain-dead online payment system known to man. You only offer one way to make a payment towards a Wells Fargo credit card account using a separate financial institution. And that is to set up an automatic, recurring payment. As if I trust you idiots to automatically take money out of my account each month on your own and pay my credit card. Every other credit card on the planet offers to let you set up as many outside checking accounts as you like to pay your bill online without forcing you to make it recurring. I hate you Wells Fargo.

I'm seriously considering just stashing my money in my mattress now.

I've just made a very important life decision.

So work is organizing an outing to see the new Harry Potter movie coming out on Wednesday. *Gasp* Free movie and missing work. Score! However Travis is out of town until Thursday for a conference and we had agreed to go see it together when he got back.

I've been wringing my hands all weekend trying to decide what to do. I've decided I simply have to go twice. I'll have to sit through 3 hours of watching Daniel Radcliffe.. twice. Damn. :-)

Hopefully I'll do a moderately better job keeping up with "blogging for dummies" than managing a website. Much as I feel that I have the skill so manage a personal website, I certainly lack the motivation to actually *do* it.
